Gift Shop

Focused and Inspired

The Gift Shop  at Mercy Conference and Retreat Center offers a variety of  unique gifts to enjoy and share, including icons, books, wooden Mercy crosses, journals, notecards, greeting cards from local and regional Sisters and artists, plaques, cups, jewelry, lotions, candles, and print and ceramic art by Sister Corlita Bonnarens, RSM. Located on the first floor of the Center by the main staircase, the Gift Shop is open when a Mercy Center Receptionist is on duty.

In support of the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy: Earth, Immigration, Nonviolence, Racism and Women, we  partner with several organizations to offer ethically produced merchandise crafted by immigrants, refugees, the poor and survivors of varying forms of violence who are working to create better lives for themselves and their families through social enterprise. Our partners include:
  • Bright Endeavors: Votive soy candles crafted by young moms rising out of homelessness and poverty.
  • FORAI – Friends of Refugees and Immigrants: Artisan handicrafts (yoga mat bags, jewelry travel bags, and tea wallets) made by refugee and immigrant women living in the St. Louis area.
  • Gotta Have HOPE, Inc. (Healthcare, Opportunity, Potential, Education): Nayune Jewelry fashioned from recycled paper and Bukedo Baskets – all made by artisans working to escape poverty within Uganda, East Africa.
  • Prosperity Candle: Soy blend wax candles hand-poured by women artisans and refugees creating a brighter future through economic independence.
  • RefuSHE: Hand-dyed scarves created by refugees in East Africa.  Sales enable young women to achieve economic and social independence while continuing to recover from violence and the deep emotional and physical scars they carry.
  • Thistle Farms: Handmade products for home and body crafted by women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction.
Mercy Gift Shop purchases support the mission of Mercy Conference and Retreat Center as well as the individual missions of our wholesale partners.
