JUST Listening: Listening as the Ultimate Act of Justice
Saturday, May 12, 2018
Check-in: 8:30 A.M.
Program: 9:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.
As our communities and planet continue suffering from injustice, hate, and dis-ease, we are now experiencing intense political divisiveness and strained public discourse. Whether in our local community of St. Louis or on the national and global political stage, civil discourse is necessary for peacemaking and community building. For effective discourse, listening ‒ deep listening ‒ is required. In times of fear and anxiety, listening can again become an effective tool. That is why we are pleased to offer this workshop on listening as the ultimate act of justice.
Workshop Leader: Sharon Browning provides JUST Listening consultation and training to a wide range of organizations. She is an attorney, former Executive Director of Philadelphia VIP, the hub of pro bono legal services in Philadelphia, and also taught for fifteen years in the Sociology Department at Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia. She is a trained mediator, as well as a retreat facilitator, spiritual guide and teacher, focusing on the needs of marginalized individuals and groups.
