Mercy Conference and Retreat Center Refund Policy
- For each program, $25 of the payment is a non-refundable registration fee.
If Mercy Conference and Retreat Center cancels a program, the total amount paid by those registered will be refunded.
If a guest doesn’t attend a program, but did not cancel her/his registration with Mercy Conference and Retreat Center, no refund will be given.
If Mercy Conference and Retreat Center is notified of a cancellation 10 or more days prior to the program, the cost will be refunded less the registration fee ($25).
If Mercy Conference and Retreat Center is notified of a cancellation 0-9 days prior to the program, the cost will be refunded less $40 for 1-2 day programs or less $125 for 3-6 day programs.
Mercy Conference and Retreat Center will determine the method for refunding the money.
This policy will be effective for all programs for which MCRC takes the registrations. It does not apply to special events like concerts.

Men and women of all ages and ability levels are welcomed into this relaxing, safe and spacious environment where we build flexibility, strength, and balance while learning stress management and mindfulness techniques to quiet the mind, increase concentration, and build body confidence. Please bring a yoga mat and dress in loose, comfortable clothing.
Instructor: Barb Michael – Barb is a health and fitness consultant and owner of Optimal Lifestyles, Inc. Barb is a certified yoga instructor and is registered in Yoga Alliance’s Yoga Teacher Registry. She has a graduate degree in Health Science from Washington University. She is also certified as an Exercise Physiologist, an Exercise is Medicine Instructor, a Personal Fitness Trainer, and a Group Exercise instructor.

Prepare the Way: An Advent Preparation Workshop for Clergy & Musicians

Dr. Emanuel Cleaver III and Paul Vasile will lead us as we explore the prophetic and poetic power of the Advent and Christmas seasons at this dynamic Worship Planning Retreat. We’ll reflect on Revised Common Lectionary texts for the season (Year B), seeking insights that inspire compelling preaching and liturgy. We’ll sing together, experiencing how music from a breadth of traditions can enliven and enrich worship and we’ll share fellowship and meals together, building a community of mutual support.

Our Workshop Leaders:
Dr. Emanuel Cleaver III is a dynamic clergyman has served as the Senior Pastor of St. James United Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO since 2009 and is known for his dynamic sermon delivery. His weekly messages are truly inspired, as are other aspects of his ministry. He leads St. James in word and by example, urging them to always be mindful of the church’s motto, “Connecting people with God in practical ways.” Dr. Cleaver received his doctorate in ministry from St. Paul School of Theology.
Paul Vasile is a freelance church musician, consultant, and composer based in New York City. A multitalented musician and dynamic worship leader, he is committed to building, renewing, and re-shaping faith communities through music and liturgy. As the Executive Director of Music that Makes Community, Paul is passionate about modeling and sharing leadership practices that sustain the musical and spiritual life of faith communities. He has also curated notable concert series, arts events, and educational programs exploring the intersection of music and spirituality.

Theology has been linked to cosmology for centuries with the core principles of Christian doctrine based on a particular historical cosmology. Modern science, especially evolution and quantum physics, has ushered in a new cosmology. Our challenge today is to find coherence between our religious beliefs and the new cosmology. Ilia Delio will explore the meaning of Jesus Christ in an evolutionary universe and the significance of Christ in evolution for the future direction of Christian life.
Presenter: Ilia Delio, OSF holds the Josephine C. Connelly Endowed Chair in Theology at Villanova University and has authored or co-authored seventeen books. Her most recent book is Making All Things New: Catholicity, Cosmology, and Consciousness (Orbis, 2015). She lectures nationally and internationally in areas of science, religion and culture with a particular focus on evolution and Christianity.

The Whisperings of God:
Embracing Lectio Divina, Visio Divina,
and Life Lectio

In the Christian Tradition the whisperings of God have always been heard through the practice of sacred reading called Lectio Divina. Recognizing that the Spirit speaks to our hearts in the living word of Scripture, presentations will explore the roots of the prayer practices of Lectio Divina (11/4) as well as Visio Divina and Life Lectio (11/5), provide an experience of the prayer, and invite participants to share their experience.
Presenter: Mary Katherine Doyle, RSM is the Novice Minister for the Sisters of Mercy Novitiate in St. Louis. Trained in history and spirituality, she has ministered in education, communications, faith formation, spiritual direction and retreat ministries.
