8 Week Session

Men and women of all ages and ability levels are welcomed into this relaxing, safe and spacious environment where we build flexibility, strength, and balance while learning stress management and mindfulness techniques to quiet the mind, increase concentration, and build body confidence and holistic health. Please bring a yoga mat and dress in loose, comfortable clothing.

Instructor: Barb Michael – Barb is a health and fitness consultant and owner of Optimal Lifestyles, Inc. She is a certified yoga instructor and is registered in Yoga Alliance’s Yoga Teacher Registry. Barb has a graduate degree in Health Science from Washington University. She is also certified as an Exercise Physiologist, an Exercise is Medicine Instructor, a Personal Fitness Trainer, and a Group Exercise instructor.

Cost for Session (8 week session): $80
Cost for Single Class Drop In: $12
One Free introductory single class drop in for new participants

Introduction to Mindful Self-Compassion

For most of us, there is a natural inclination to attend to the needs of others.  Without our conscious awareness, this often occurs to the neglect of ourselves.  Mindful Self-Compassion is a new paradigm, showing us that we cannot give that which we do not have.  Come join us for a quiet afternoon as we explore and practice together Mindful Self-Compassion.  You will leave with a deeper connection to yourself, a greater sense of peace and well-being, and tools to use to keep your own well full throughout the New Year.

Presenter:  Mary Middendorf, R.N., B.S.N., has been committed to personal and spiritual growth her whole life and is delighted to share with you what has been transformative along the way.  She brings experience as a nurse, educator, coach, Mindfulness practitioner, and yoga teacher.  Her most recent rewarding experience has been teaching inmates Mindfulness practices to support them on their path to recovery.

This event is a fundraiser for both Mercy Conference and Retreat Center and the Liturgical Composers Forum and will be used to host musical events at Mercy Center and to contribute to the future of quality liturgical music composition.

Sacred Water:  Precious Gift and Critical Concern

Water, the source and sustenance for all life, is becoming an increasingly scarce commodity.  Based on Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, this reflection day will focus on the sacredness of water, the water crisis, and our call to respond.

Presenter:  Carolyn McWatters, RSM is Director of Liturgy and Music at St. Francis Xavier Parish (College Church).  She has her Master of Divinity degree from Aquinas Institute of Theology.

Walking the Lenten Journey – A Four Week Series

Tuesdays, February 20 and 27, March 6 and 13, 2018

The Lenten season has always been a privileged time of prayer and conversion of heart. The believing community joined with those who were preparing their hearts for Baptism.  Through reflection on the scriptures of this season, this four week process invites you to enter into that journey, to drink of the Word, and savor the invitation to “Put on the mind and heart of Christ.”

Presenter:  Mary Katherine Doyle, RSM, Novice Minister for the Sisters of Mercy Novitiate in St. Louis, is trained in history and spirituality.  She has ministered in education, communications, faith formation, spiritual direction and retreat ministries.

Total Cost:

$35 – Individual session

Embracing the Seasons of our Lives…In the Name of Love:  A Quiet Spring Retreat

May 21—26, 2018
Registration: 10:00 A.M. Monday
Program concludes mid-morning on Saturday

Retreatants will be given the opportunity to look back on their lives as a progression through the seasons.  Focus questions for pondering during the course of each day will be provided and prepared prayers appropriate to each season will begin each morning session.  Journals will be available for those who would like to capture their own prayerful thoughts and retain them for future reflection.  There will be conversation at supper each evening to allow for sharing.

Presenter:  Carol Mucha, RSM is currently working as a Campus Minister and Spiritual Director, primarily at Saint Xavier University in Chicago.  Her former ministries included teacher, principal, education consultant, vocation minister, parish and youth minister and presenter in a lay ministry program.
