Join us for a fascinating afternoon with internationally-noted St. Louis

sculptor Don Wiegand as he shares his inspiring career. Don’s sculptures

have been installed in numerous public locations throughout the United

States and the world, including a Pope Francis bronze bas relief for “The

Pontifical Academy of Science” in the Vatican. St. Louisans will be familiar

with the bronze sculpture of August A. Busch, Jr. at Busch Stadium, “Cora”,

a life size bronze at the Missouri Botanical Garden, and a heroic bronze

bas relief of Winston Churchill at the National Churchill Museum at

Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.

Mercy Sister Jan Hayes will interview Don about his art education at the

former Mercy High School in University City, his studies in the School of

Fine Arts at Washington University, his career as a nationally and

internationally-recognized sculptor, and his unique sculpted home and

studio in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Don will also tell the story of the formation of The Wiegand Foundation,

creating art to memorialize significant accomplishments in science,

technology, national defense and human service. Color slides of Don’s

various works will be projected as he discusses them. There will be time for

a Q &A session with the sculptor at the end of the interview and

presentation.
