Physical Activity

Physical Activity

Expressing feelings of anger, frustration, pain, anxiety is crucial to our emotional and spiritual health.  These powerful emotions fill us with energy that, left unexpressed (called suppression), can cause headaches, heart problems, joint problems, intestinal/digestive issues, sleeping problems, eating issues, other unpleasant effects.

Physical activity is a productive effective way to expend the energy of difficult emotions. Depending on one's physical ability, this might be:
Cleaning out a closet or other portion of one's domicile
Jogging, Biking, Rollerblading, other cardio activity

Washing a car
Lifting free-weights
Dribbling/shooting a basketball
Kicking a ball against a wall
Batting Cages or Golf Driving Range
Outdoor cleanup project
Nature walk and collecting interesting leaves/objects along the way
Meditative/Mindful Walk/Ambulation in a wheelchair

With any physical movement, there will be added benefit if while moving one is reflecting on an encouraging affirmation, mantra phrase, or prayer
