In order to take care of others and to show up in the world, we need to be able to take care of and show up for ourselves first. Self-compassion is an important piece in this process. Self-compassion gives us the flexibility to weather life’s storms and to feel empowered to take action. Archetypes help us to see, and then embody, a set of qualities we want to realize in our own lives. We can lean on the teachings of archetypes to support us in the work we are showing up for in the world.
In this secular, online, 3-workshop series, we’ll explore the intersection of archetypes and self-compassion training. Through learning about three archetypes embodying different aspects of self-compassion and compassion in action - Kuan Yin (from Buddhism), Maleficent (from European folklore), and Our Lady of Guadalupe (from Catholicism) - we’ll discover how we can use the inspiration and support of these embodied beings to support our own resiliency, self-care, and creativity. Through readings, videos, exercises, meditations, talks, and discussions, we’ll connect our own contemporary practice with ages-old sources of spiritual inspiration, values-directed motivation, and skillful action.
This program is offered in a series, with each week’s exploration building on the last. There is a 90 minute live online gathering each week that will be recorded so that participants can watch the recording again, or can view it in their own time if the live gathering time does not suit their schedule.
Attendance at the live gatherings is not necessary. The program invites participants to explore optional readings, videos, exercises and meditations in their own time, in addition to the material offered during the live online gatherings.
